The Mega Food Park Scheme (MFPS) aim to promote the development of modern food processing infrastructure in India. The other aims of the scheme are:
- Link agricultural production to the market by bringing together farmers, processors, and retailers
- Increase value addition in the food processing sector
- Reduce food wastage
- Create employment opportunities in rural areas

The Mega Food Park Scheme is based on “Cluster” approach and envisages creation of state of art support infrastructure in a well-defined agri / horticultural zone for setting up of modern food processing units in the industrial plots provided in the park with well-established supply chain. Mega food park typically consist of supply chain infrastructure including collection centers, primary processing centers, central processing centers, cold chain and around 25-30 fully developed plots for entrepreneurs to set up food processing units.
- The Mega Food Park Scheme (MFPS) has the following components:
- Collection Centers (CCs): CCs are located at the farm gate and are used to collect agricultural produce from farmers.
- Primary Processing Centers (PPCs): PPCs are located near the CCs and are used to process agricultural produce.
- Central Processing Centers (CPCs): CPCs are located at the mega food park and are used to process and package agricultural produce for export.
- Cold Chain: The cold chain is a network of refrigerated facilities used to store and transport agricultural produce.
- Industrial Plots: The mega food park provides industrial plots to food processing companies.

The Mega Food Park Scheme (MFPS) is a government initiative to boost modern food processing infrastructure in India. It offers financial aid of up to Rs. 50 crore per mega food park (MFP) to a group of companies. These MFPs aim to establish a direct connection between farmers and processors, minimize food waste, and enhance the export of processed food products.
The financial assistance provided by the MFPS is utilized for various purposes, including:

The scheme has been discontinued by the Government with effect from 01.04.2021 with provision for committed liabilities for ongoing projects only.
